First day out

I made it to NZ!!!! (just in case you hadnt heard=)
It was sooooo cold and rainy, so that was a bit of a bummer, but I was thankful to have landed alright without any problems and to be on land once again. (Planes will always amaze me, and put a little fear in me as well)

I got to know my wonderful host family and their adorable children. I decided to stay home yesterday, my coop teacher had some friends she was going to see and do stuff with outside, but I was so cold, and tired!

Today I went with Sara (coop) to help out some special needs children as a chaperone for a field trip. We went downtown Auckland and toured the Sky Tower which has an awesome view of the city. It was so much fun to take the kids up there, they had a blast, and I even had a little girl tell me that she loved me by the end of the trip. They were all so sweet, and it was fun getting to know other chaperones as well.

We went to Burger Fuel for lunch, and for breakfast I tried a little Maramite, which is NZ's Vegemite. Not too tasty, but a little less salty then the alternative =) I will stick to peanut butter for now.
I did take a trip to the bakery with Kristen, my host-mother, and a little store, and there are zero to nil brand names that I recognize. The only think I have seen so far is Coke =)
(No Dr Pepper and no Taco Bell!!!!!!!!)

As far as the accent goes, I dont think I will be picking up on it, because even Sara, Kristen (married to a Kiwi), and Brent dont have one. I still wont give up though, I will keep listening =)

I am working on my efolio for a bit, and then going to a small group bible study tonight. Next is kayaking and camping for a bit, so I wont be back on til about thursday night-ish States time.
Love you all

~Hannah
